Slokha 6

The slokha 6 of Vishnu sahasranama is given below:

aprameyo hrisheekesah padmanaabho-a- maraprabhuh
visvakarmaa manustvashtaa sthavishthah sthaviro dhruvah

 

Nama46:apramEyah:One who cannot be defined ,measured but can only be experienced

This nama tells us that Vishnu can only be expeirienced by becoming one with him and following the path laid by him

Nama47:hrushIkEsah:One who is lord of sense organs/One whose rays makes the world happy place

This nama tells us that Vishnu can be regarded as Sun an Moon, Awakes the world by giving light in form of sun , puts the whole world to sleep in form of moon

Nama48:padmanAbhah:One whose navel lotus emanates

 This nama tells us that Lotus in Hinduism represents Truth or any of Its manifested powers. The creative faculties in man flow from the navel area (center: naabhi), and manifests as the ‘four-faced’ inner equipment (Antahkarana) constituted of the mind, intellect, Chit and ego.

 Nama49:amaraprabhuh:One who is lord of immortals

This nama tells us that  Vishnu  is amaraprabhu because He created the different devatAs and entrusted them with acts such as creation, destruction  and directs them in their functions

 Nama50:visvakarmA:One who creates the world of objects

This nama tells us that Vishnu is the creator and director of all the objects in this world

Nama51:manuh:One who is great thinker / One who has manifested himself as a form of vedic mantra

This nama tell us that even the uttering the name of the lord is equivalent to uttering a vedic mantra

Nama52:tvashTA:One who has created all the different forms and names in the universe

This nama tell us that Vishnu has chisled so many diverse forms and names of god , man ,birds, plants,insects etc. 

Nama53: sthavishThah:One who is huge in size

This nama tells us that the Huge  size is place  of residence for all beings that has been created.

sthavirah:One who is permanent/ One who is ancient

This nama tells us that Vishnu is time, and everything is under his control, time cannot control him.

Nama55:dhruvah:One who is unaffected by time /Permanent

 

 

 

 

 

Slokha 5

The fifth slokha of vishnu sahasranama is given below:

svayambhooh sambhur aadityah pushkaraaksho mahaasvanah
anaadi-nidhano dhaataa vidhaataa dhaaturuttamah

Nama 37:svayambhUh:One who manifests in his free will

This nama tells us that vishnu can manifest in any form at any time to help his devotees.

Nama 38:sambuh:One who brings happiness/Auspiciousness to hsi devotees

This nama tell us that Vishnu brings both inner goodness and outer prosperity to his devotees.

Nama 39:Adityah:One who is like sun

This nama tells us that Vishnu sustains and nourishes everything he creates like a sun . Infact vishnu is considered to be one of the twelve adityas of the sun.This nama is also referred to Incarnation of Vamana as Aditis son.

Nama 40:pushkarAkshah:One whos eyes are like lotus

This nama tells us that Vishnu with his majestic looks removes all the the sorrows of the devotees and fills it with joy.

Nama 41:mahAsvanah:One whos possesses thundering Voice /Breath

This nama tells us that Rig , Yajur,Sama vedas are created from the breath of Vishnu

Nama 42:anAdi-nidhanah:One who has no beginning or end

This nama tells us that Vishnu is changless as he has no beginning or end

Nama 43:dhAtA:One who has created the univers/Sustains the universe

This nama tells us that Vishnu supports all the field of experiences in our life

Nama 44:vidhatA:One who is the dispenser of all the fruits of action

This nama tells us that vishnu protects the the beings of the world . Also it tells us that it is vishnu who bestows the desires of his devotees.

Nama 45:dhAturuttamah:One who is the best of all basic constituents

This nama tells us Vishnu is the ultimate constituent in all

 

 

Slokha 4

Slokha 4 of vishnu Sahasranama is given below:

sarvas-sharvas-sivah sthaanur
bhootaadir nidhir-avyayah
sambhavo bhaavano bhartaa
prabhavah prabhur-eesvarah

Nama 25 :sarvah:One who is all( cause of creation and destruction)

This nama indicates that  it  is vishnu who is the cause of all the creation and destruction. He is origin and end of all things .He has full knowledge of all beings at all the time.

Nama 26:sarvah: One who removes all the sins/One who is auspicious

This nama indicates that All our sins are removed by meditating on vishnu , by following the path laid by god.

Nama 27:sivah:One who is pure

This nama indicates that vishnu never lets his devotees fall, he give all that which is desired by us.He is brahma,He is siva , he is lord of all.

Nama 28:sthANuh:One who is firm/permanent/fixed

This nama indicates that lord is always firm in blessing his devotees.   

Nama 29th :bhUtadih:One who is the first cause of all the beings

This nama indicates that vishnu is the cause of five great elements space,air,fire,water,earth

Nama 30th:nidhirvyayah: One who is imperishable treasure

This nama indicates that vishnu is like a container for the entire universe.

Nama 31:sambhavah:One who incarnates at his own will for the benefit of the world

This nama indicates that vishnu can manifest at any place, any form, at any time for the people who believe him

Nama 32:bhAvanah:One who gives everything to his devotees

This nama indicates that Vishnu gives the fruit for our all our action as we deserve.It is him who gives us joy and sorrow  to each one of us according to what we deserve.

 Nama 33:bhartA:One  who supports/Governs the entire living world

This nama indicates that Vishnu Governs/Protects the world from alll the harms , helps the world  positively with progress and joy.

Nama 34:prabhavah:One whose  birth is of sublime nature

This nama indicates that it is from Vishnu that concept of time has come from

 

 Nama 35:prabhuh:One who is all powerful

 

 This nama indicates that Vishnu is supreme lord of all.

Nama 36:Isvarah:One who has supreme power to control all beings

 

 This nama indicates that Vishnu has the ability to do anything without the help of any other beings of things.

 

What can we learn from Slokha 3 Narasimha Avatar

As we look it to the Narasimha avatar we can also get a message from it. Narasimha Avatar depicts the lord in the form of half human and half lion.

God has created each one of us with the power/force with which we can achieve anything. Its upto to each one of us to decide how we want to make use of our power/force. 

Whatever action we undertake , we should think pause for a second to analyze the consequences  associated the action. Many time we take actions which we regret after some time.

 This story of Narasimha Avatar also gives us a number of moral instructions like

• God is everywhere
• God will always save his devotees  for their good deeds
• People who practices evil will be punished at some point of time

People should always remember that whatever actions they take in life they are never above the creator and hence the results of  actions are decided by the creator

Slokha 3

The slokha of Vishnu Sahasranama is given below:

yogoh yoga-vidaam netaa
pradhaana-purushesvarah
naarasimha- vapuh
sreemaan kesavah purushottamah

Nama 18 :yOgah: One who can be reached through meditation

This nama tells us that we can realize vishnu when we meditate on him by controlling our senses and quieting our mind.

Nama 19:yOgavidhAm nEta: One who guides those who practise yoga

This nama tells us that those who  dedicate their life to vishnu , he guides their daily welfare and spiritual progress.

Nama 20:pradhAna-purushEsvarah:Lord of Pradhana and Purusha

This nama tells us that Vishnu is the lord/master (Esvarah) of Pradhana(Cause of universe) , Purusha(Lord of our soul).

Nama 21:nArasimhavapuh:One whose form is half lion /human

 This nama speaks about the fourth incarnation of lord Vishnu which is the Narasimha Avatar. Vishnu removes the fear of his devotees who trust him .

Nama 22:srImAn:One who is always with Sree (Lakshmi)/One who is of beautiful form

This nama tells us that whatever form Vishnu Undertakes it will always be beautiful and for the best interest of his devotees.

 Nama 23:kEsavah:One with lovely locks of hair/One who destoryed the demon Kesin  

This nama tells us that Vishnu is not only beautiful but also powerful as he killed demon Kesin who was sent to destroy child Krishna

Nama 24:purushOttamah:One who is supreme among individual souls

This nama tells us that Vishnu is supreme among each one of our souls created by him
